About 59 Marine Drive Bigbury-on-seaThis house was built during 2009-10 on a very demanding site. Our aim was to create a building which complimented the area and its stunning aspect, incorporating eco credentials where possible including an air source heat pump with a heat recovery system and a sustainable timber frame.
We feel we have created a cool, contemporary house in which to escape to and relax and enjoy all that the surrounding area has to offer. Whatever the season this house can inspire anything. The interior has been coordinated to reflect the colours of the Sea, beach and cliffs looking also at the flowers and the natural landscape to create a calm place to spend time. To experience the views and sunsets from any of the balconies is totally breathtaking.
Bigbury-on-sea is a beautiful and truly magical place. It includes the Iconic Art Deco 1930’s Burgh Island hotel frequented by many famous people. Edward came with Mrs Simpson, Agatha Christie used it as a setting for two of her novels, Noel Coward came for three days and stayed for three weeks and Winston Churchill stayed there as well. The building alone is stunning but why not book an afternoon tea there and step back to a more elegant time in history. Depending on the tide you can walk or take the sea tractor to the island where you can just simply walk the whole way around this beautiful unspoilt place or just pop into the Pilchard Inn for a drink.
The three sandy beaches at Bigbury-on-sea are all on the environment departments clean beaches list. They are perfect for surfing, sailing/kayaking or simply just relaxing with friends and family. Dogs are allowed on some parts of the beaches all year round. The beaches are all patrolled by RNLI lifeguards.
